Four examples of custom themes for Family Therapy Vacations:

Family Passage:
Celebrating a transition

For families celebrating and marking significant milestones.

Examples of intent:

  • Honoring a traditional rite of passage.

  • Launching into a new stage of life for any or all members.

  • Significant transitions, like a child beginning high school or leaving home for college.

Family Integration:
Involved in treatment

For families coming together with a family member that has been enrolled in a therapeutic program such as rehabilitation or residential programs. Examples may be wilderness therapy programs, rehab centers for addiction, or other residential treatment centers.

The programming will be mindful and supportive adventures that enhance a family’s strengths to support the development of new skills gained through the treatment process.

Examples of intent:

  • A family comes together during a “break week” from an in-patient treatment center or program to create a positive family vacation experience outside the walls of the treatment facility.

  • Reintegrating a family member back into day-to-day life after treatment.

  • Creating new ways of being and practicing for living apart. Families build a platform to integrate and sustain the changes gained during treatment to facilitate reentry or post-treatment.

Family Action:
Taking proactive steps

For families taking a proactive and preventative step who recognize a need for support in developing skills to better see their way through the adolescent or young adult years.

Examples of intent:

  • Interrupt existing patterns that could potentially develop into family dysfunction, disruption, and disconnection.

  • Decide on your personal family goals and engage in a positive intervention to get everyone on board and strengthen relationships.

The intent will be to support the family to move forward as a healthier, more intentional family.

Family Crisis:
Intervention

For families that find themselves in dysfunction, disruption, and disconnection. Members of the family are using unhealthy coping mechanisms and are not functioning day-to-day. In the midst of this chaos, it is important to remove the family from the environment and create a safe environment to heal the nervous system, rest, and reset those families who are finding themselves in the midst of crisis, we are a resource for you to reset and reassess.

Examples of intent:

  • Removing family member(s) from their environment.

  • Opportunities for assessment, re-set, and rest.

  • Re-evaluate the next steps for the family member(s).

These are just examples. Every Family Therapy Vacation is tailored to the family.
