The Timeless Beauty of Labyrinth Canyon

Labyrinth Canyon isn’t just a destination; it’s a place where time feels suspended. Immerse yourself in the peaceful flow of the Green River, where each gentle bend reveals towering sandstone walls glowing with hues of red and gold, desert wildflowers adding bursts of color, and the quiet hum of nature surrounding you. This stretch of river offers unmatched tranquility, making it a paddler’s sanctuary and a photographer’s dream. There are no rapids on this flat water section of the Green River.

What people say to us at the end of their river journey:

  • “I cannot believe I paddled over 45 miles in a canoe.”

  • “I’m excited for a shower but I really don’t want this to end.”

  • “I ate better on this trip then I do at home.”

  • “I feel like I am closer to all of you than my friends at home and it’s just been a week.”

Example Itinerary - For larger groups - All Inclusive

Day 1 - Fly into Grand Junction, Colorado and meet your guides. Most groups that fly into the area will stay the night at a hotel. Preparation and packing happen on this evening after dinner.

Day 2 - Drive to the river’s edge. Most trips start at Ruby Ranch in Utah. We have lunch at the put in and make our way down river to our first camp. About 7 or 8 miles.

Day 3 - Today we wake up near Trin Alcove. Option to have a side hike in this canyon with some markings on the walls to look at. We make our way to our next camp about 10 miles. At this camp we will be off the river and under the wide open sky. There is a great side hike from our camp that takes up high to look at why this river is called the Green River and not the Brown River!

Day 4 - Making our way down the river to our Bow Knot Bend camp. This is the side hike that no one should meet. Take it in the afternoon or the morning, the hike skirts up the canyon wall to the ridge. You can see where you have already paddled and where you will paddle in one view. About 12 miles.

Day 5 - Today we make our home around Horseshoe Bend either on a big beautiful sandbar or up along the river’s bank. The last beautiful night sky to enjoy before we get to the end. About 10 miles

Day 6 - Our take out is 7 or 8 miles away at Mineral Bottom Road. At this boat launch we start to get back into civilization as we see other groups putting on the river and taking off. The adventure continues as we make our way up one of the most adventurous roads in the country! Our groups most often go out to celebrate together to say their goodbyes.

Day 7 - Departures home.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Each day on the river brings its own rhythm, shaped by the landscape, the flow of the water, and the group’s energy. While every trip is unique, a typical day might look something like this:

Wake up to the soft light of the desert sun and the enticing aroma of fresh coffee and breakfast prepared by your guides. Enjoy a slow, peaceful morning sipping your hot drink beneath towering red canyon walls and an endless blue sky. After breakfast, pack up your tent and personal gear while the guides clean up and get everything ready for the day’s journey.

Once the canoes and paddleboards are loaded, we’ll push off and begin our morning paddle. The river winds gently through breathtaking scenery, offering moments of quiet reflection, playful exploration, and connection with your fellow travelers. We’ll stop along the way to stretch, swim, explore side canyons, or visit historic sites.

We’ll pause for a well-earned lunch, enjoying fresh food and a chance to relax in the shade. This is a perfect time to cool off with a dip in the river, stretch your legs, and refuel for the afternoon’s journey.

The afternoon brings more time on the water, paddling through stunning canyon corridors before reaching our next campsite. Once we arrive, we’ll work together to unload and set up camp—a rewarding process that builds a sense of shared purpose and connection.

After settling in, you can unwind with a riverside siesta, take a swim, or just soak in the quiet beauty of the desert. Guides will prepare appetizers and a delicious dinner, and we’ll gather as a group to share stories, laughter, and meaningful conversations. Some evenings may include a campfire, stargazing beneath the vast night sky, or guided discussions on themes relevant to your journey.

As the night deepens, you’ll fall asleep to the gentle sounds of the river and the deep stillness of the canyon, waking up refreshed for another day of adventure.

  • Our guides are backcountry gourmet chefs! Even though we have limited refrigeration, our experience has allowed us to create the most delicious and healthy meals for all tastebuds. Fresh meats, cheese, vegetables throughout the trip. We do accommodate to dietary restrictions as well. Everyone that travels with us delights in our backcountry menu and always asks for the recipes.

  • Our trips are tailored to the beginner camper. We know this can be scary as people think of camping as “roughing” it. Our passion is to change that mindset and help our guests realize the comfort in an immersive outdoor experience. We have quality gear for you to camp with that will help you find comfort and safety throughout the day and night. We have a full outdoor kitchen that helps us nourish our groups as if we were at home in our kitchens. We are able to provide our clients tents, sleeping bags, pads that are thick and comfortable, camp chairs off the ground, and amenities to make the outdoors more like home.

  • All of our trips are custom designed. Our two most popular meeting locations are Grand Junction, Colorado and Green River, Utah. If you are flying in, Grand Junction is the most convenient access to our trip. Most of our larger group trips will meet in Grand Junction and stay in a hotel the first night to prepare for their journey. Our private trips - often families or friend groups - will often have their own logistics to get to the area and to save costs, we meet them in the town of Green River, Utah. These smaller groups can have their personal vehicle shuttled to the take out so that when they come off the water, they can be on their way to the next part of their adventure. A lot of people want to go see Moab after the river journey and our take out is closer to Moab than Grand Junction.

  • If you have the desire and the spirit for adventure, then we will get you out there!

We have taken kids as young as age 6 on our river journeys. We take our own children, younger than 6 on our river journeys. It comes down to how comfortable parents feel with their young children. We often help our parents determine their comfort level with bringing their young children on an adventure such as the Green River. We feel comfortable bringing children on our trip if you feel comfortable too.

For the older generations or individuals with injuries and concerns relating to their health and mobility, we will tailor the experience to the best of our ability. Places such as this are healing for our bodies and souls and we are passionate about helping you have that for yourself. Please reach out and talk to us about your concerns and we can help you decide if this trip is right for you.

The physical demand of a river trip is low especially when you are hiring our guiding service. There is uneven terrain but most of the camps, once you are in it, is easily navigated. Sitting in the canoe and paddling is low impact if sitting is comfortable for you. Our guides can do the paddling if you have shoulder or upper body concerns.

  • The main thing you bring is a positive attitude and a spirit for adventure! But also you’ll need some clothes. We provide a packing list for your trip to help you determine the right clothes and personal items for the trip you are attending. We provide the paddling, camping, and group gear necessary to make this trip comfortable.
